Crash Vegas' Michelle McAdorey Returns with New Solo Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 16, 2015

Remember '90s Cancon act Crash Vegas? Well, they've been inactive for almost two decades, but singer Michelle McAdorey is about to return with a new solo album. Into Her Future is due out on October 30 through DWR.

This is the Toronto songwriter's third solo album overall, and her first new music since 2003's Whirl. It was produced by Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor — who was also a member of Crash Vegas — at his Lost Cause studio over the course of two and a half years.

Keelor said in a statement, "Michelle's spirit has always been an inspiration to my own work. I have long been in awe of her strength and passion, not just as a singer but as a writer and an interpreter of feeling, which to me is the essence of great songs. I am thrilled to have been a part of this process."

The tracklist is below. For a taste of the album, go to SoundCloud to hear "Disappearing Things."

In a statement, here's what McAdorey had to say about the track:

The song was, in part, inspired by an interview I heard with a First Nations chief speaking about what was happening in Fort Chipewyan. He was talking about the impact of the tar sands, the largest industrial disaster on the globe happening in Northern Canada that is affecting our water and climate, and changing the environment. He described what he was seeing; the pollution, mutated fish, and sickness, and he said 'All water comes together in the end.' He also spoke of his deep love for the earth, for all creatures, saying that when you really love, you must be ready to stand, no matter the turbulence, and how that takes great courage.
