When police recently revealed that Kurt Cobain had died with a note about Courtney Love in his wallet, many were quick to pass judgement, pointing out that the Nirvana frontman's words cast his wife in a negative light. Well, it looks as if many folks read the situation wrong, since the note was actually written by Love herself.

The initial portion of the note that emerged online read, "Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife even when she's a bitch with zits and siphoning all yr money for doping and whoring."

Although this doesn't sound very complimentary, the rest of the note has since been revealed, and it changes the tone dramatically; it finishes, "will you promise to fuck her at least once a week, OK," which sounds a whole lots more affectionate.

Reports subsequently began swirling that the note had actually been written by Love, not Cobain, and the Hole singer confirmed this in an interview with the Guardian. She said, "Obviously I wrote it — don't you guys understand sarcasm?"

It was apparently in inside joke about how the media vilified Love.

Regarding the media's obsession over the issue, she said, "It endangers me, and it endangers [daughter] Frances."

Love said that Brett Morgen's upcoming documentary about Cobain will change the public's perception of her relationship with her late husband. "[Morgen] got footage from everywhere, previously unseen stuff of me and Kurt that really skews the misconceptions," she said. "It's the real deal."

On the other hand, there's also an upcoming unofficial film called Soaked in Bleach in the works that looks to take a very different perspective.
