Code Orange

'I Am King' (album stream)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 26, 2014

As previously reported, young royals Code Orange's are set to thin the herd with their I Am King LP. Now, ahead of officially bringing the non-believers to the chopping block on September 2, the Pittsburgh hardcore act have served up a punishing early stream of the entire set.

While we'd previously heard moody, metal-tinged tracks like "Dreams in Inertia" and "My World," the album stream reveals the severely detuned groove of "Slowburn" — an almost Bloodlet-style devotion to noise chords, off-tempo guitar chugging and demonic wailing — and the unrelenting slow-mo crush behind the deceptively titled "Mercy."

You can check out the album down below, while the record officially arrives next Tuesday (September 2) via Deathwish Inc. The band will also head out on a North American tour this fall.
