Dallas Green is showing off his charitable side with a previously unreleased City and Colour track called "Nowhere, Texas."
The Canadian singer-songwriter has released a new single via Dine Alone, with proceeds going towards the YWCA of Canada's Rose Campaign to end violence against women.
The song was inspired by the murders of women along Interstate 45 in Texas, which came to Green's attention after watching the true crime film Texas Killing Fields.
"I recorded 'Nowhere, Texas' during a session for The Hurry and The Harm. I knew as soon as I listened to it, there was a better place for the song than the album," he said in a statement. "I've held on to it all this time and chose to release it as a way to bring attention to something around us everyday: violence against women."
December 6 marks the 25th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre at École Polytechnique, in which a shooter took the lives of 14 women. The date now also serves as Canada's National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
