Cinematic Orchestra and Ninja Tune Join Forces for New Label

In today's dire musical climate, both recording artists and record labels struggle to do anything and everything to make ends meet. Still, the brutal economic circumstances don't seem to be stopping anyone from forming new record labels. Just ask the UK's Cinematic Orchestra, who have teamed up with their record label, Ninja Tune, for a new joint venture.

Known as Motion Audio, the label will be headed by the Orchestra's Jason Swinscoe, with back-end support from Ninja Tune.

The label's first release comes from Lou Rhodes, a solo artist and former member of Lamb. His album, One Good Thing, is due out in March of 2010. Following that, the label will release an album from Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Grey Reverend.

In a statement made to press, Swinscoe revealed that the label will not have one set agenda, saying, "Motion Audio will be more about a vibe than any particular sound or style...We want to surprise people, move people, make art. The only thing the records will share is heart."

Weird, it almost sounds as if they're doing this out of a love for music.
