Since starting up in the '90s, Finnish metal vets Children of Bodom have aligned themselves to their mother country's Spinefarm imprint (with various distribution deals shipping the discs worldwide). The band are about to shake things up, though, as the group have announced they've jumped ship and signed to Nuclear Blast.
A press release confirms that the act has inked up with the iconic metal imprint, though it should be noted the label already has a history with the band. Children of Bodom's first three full-lengths (1997's Something Wild, 1999's Hatebreeder and 2000's Follow the Reaper) were issued by Nuclear Blast outside of Finland. The new deal, however, brings them onto the label proper.
"Fifteen years ago we were introduced to a very young band from Finland who blew us away," Nuclear Blast Europe A&R rep Jaap Wagemaker said in a statement. "Fast-tapping guitar work combined with incredible keyboards and angry vocals… it was the start of the career of Children of Bodom."
Bass player Henkka T. Blacksmith added, "Personally, I am so excited to get to work with Nuclear Blast again. We have such good memories from the beginning of our career with them. We know the people already and we know how committed they are in doing metal!"
It's unclear just when Children of Bodom will deliver their upcoming Nuclear Blast effort, but the press release says the act is planning for a 2013 release.
Children of Bodom's last release was 2011's Relentless Reckless Forever.
