Chet Faker

"1998" (ft. Banks)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 28, 2015

Both Chet Faker and Banks have emerged out of the modern craze for R&B-laced electronic pop, and now they've teamed up on the track "1998."

The original version of this song appeared on Chet Faker's 2014 album Built on Glass. Like the previous incarnation of "1998," this version track begins with mellow keyboards stabs and electronic handclaps before shifting into a swaggering, mellow dance groove.

The twist comes when Banks takes over on the mic halfway through. Her voice mingles with Chet Faker man Nicholas Murphy, making for melodic soundscape that's pleasant without being too attention-grabbing.
