Bay Area crew Ceremony have gone on a long and strange journey to get from their hyper-speed roots to the laissez-faire punk of their recent LP, Zoo. As previously reported, the band will be taking their current crop of tunes out on the road this September with dance rock unit Bloc Party, but a few gaps between those dates have now been filled with some shows of their own.
Rather than take a couple of days off, Ceremony will headline a few shows on those previously proposed rest days. All together, five new concerts have been added to their schedule, with Canadian stops now including headlining gigs in Ottawa, Montreal and Regina. You can check out the details down below.
While Ceremony have been hard at work promoting Zoo since it was released earlier this year, a recent trip to the A/V Club's Chicago office found the act tackling the Violent Femmes early number "Kiss Off." Watch it at your own peril, though. Despite screaming throughout the band's career, Ceremony vocalist Ross Farrar's half-hearted take on the track doesn't quite compare to Femmes leader Gordon Gano's nervous energy. To be fair, though, Ceremony had just learned the tune.
