CBC Radio 3 Announces Bucky Awards Winners
CBC Radio 3 has given out the station's top honours to Canadian musicians, announcing that artists such as Chad VanGaalen, Black Mountain, Mother Mother and Holy Fuck are all 2008 Bucky Awards recipients.

During a star-studded radio gala Wednesday (December 17), CBC Radio 3's Grant Lawrence named this year's Bucky winners, who were chosen by listeners and voted on via the station's website.

Holy Fuck took home the award for Best Live Act; VanGaalen won the Future Classic Bucky for his Soft Airplane track "Willow Tree"; kalimba sweetheart Laura Barrett captured the Sexiest Musician honours; Best Hook went to Black Mountain; and Woodhands won a Bucky for Best Beat. (See below for a full list of winners.)

Also, in one of the non-voting categories, the Lifetime Achievement Award went to punk legends Teenage Head, who this year lost front-man Frankie Venom to throat cancer.

"The winners list is yet another testament to the strength, depth and breadth of Canadian music," said Lawrence.
