In the wake of yesterday's cancellation in Halifax, Calgary promoters have followed suit and cancelled an upcoming appearance from long-running punk act the Casualties, likely due to allegations of sexual assault against frontman Jorge Herrera (pictured on the far right).
In a Facebook post, Calgary venue the Palomino wrote, "The Casualties will no longer be playing August 5th. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase." The event's Facebook page, which was home to a heated debate about the allegations, has also been deleted.
No official charges have been made against Herrera, but the claims started in 2013 with a now infamous blog post from a woman writing under the pseudonym Beth. She accused Herrera of sexually assaulting her as a 16-year-old girl.
While the Casualties have since denied the claims, a large movement called Boycott the Casualties has started on Facebook. Further, a long list of Herrera's alleged abuse victims have shared stories on Tumblr.
The band still has shows scheduled all over Canada. We'll update if other city's decide to follow suit and cancel their shows.
UPDATE: Over the weekend, the Casualties' Calgary show was rebooked at Distortion. It has an event page here. Meanwhile, the band's stop at Amigo's Cantina in Saskatoon was cancelled.
