Carrie Brownstein Writing Memoir

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 2, 2012

It's no wonder that Sleater-Kinney is still on hiatus, since Carrie Brownstein has kept up a hectic schedule in recent years. She's a member of Wild Flag, stars in the sketch comedy show Portlandia, makes occasional forays into journalism and, as we've now learned, is working on multiple books.

The New York Times reports that Brownstein is planning to write an indie rock memoir about her music career. It will come out via Riverhead Books, a subsidiary of Penguin. A release date and title have not yet been decided.

Brownstein is also working on a faux travel guide with comedy party Fred Armisen called Portlandia: A Guide for Visitors. Like the show, it will highlight landmarks around Portland with an ironic twist. This will be out on November 20 through Grand Central Publishing.

Lastly, Brownstein has been talking about a book called The Sound of Where You Are for the last couple of years. It reportedly examines the rapidly changing music industry and will come out through Ecco/HarperCollins.
