Carly Rae Jepsen

"E•MO•TION"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 3, 2015

Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen has shared a couple tracks from her upcoming album, and now she has confirmed that the new collection is called E•MO•TION. Right on cue, the title track has emerged.

The song isn't quite as joyous as "I Really Like You," but it's significantly more upbeat than "All That." It begins with keyboard stabs that bear a passing similarity to her career-making hit "Call Me Maybe," but the song takes on its own identity once the danceable beat enters. The chorus sounds like it could have been an '80s pop hit, and it's catchy enough to hold up against Jepsen's best.
