Since 2010, Virginia-bred/Seattle-based songwriter Will Toledo has pumped out 11 DIY albums under his Car Seat Headrest moniker on Bandcamp. Now, all that hard work has paid off, as the 22-year-old's next album will be get a significantly more high-profile release. He has signed to Matador, and Teens of Style will be out through the label on October 30.
For listeners who haven't heard Car Seat Headrest's past work, this album acts as a primer of sorts, as nearly all of the songs are touched-up versions of cuts from the albums Monomania (2012), My Back Is Killing Me Baby (2011) and 3 (2010).
An announcement from Matador explains, "Whatever limited notion we've had of bedroom recording / solo / no-fi auteur-isms was pretty much blown to bits by the quality of Will's songs, if not the staggering stylistic range."
