Brian Wilson

"Sail Away"

Back in 1995, Brian Wilson and collaborator Van Dyke Parks released a song called "Sail Away" on their album Orange Crate Art. Now, Wilson has shared another track of the same title, which appears on his upcoming album No Pier Pressure.

The new tune has a sunny acoustic sound with beach-ready words that tap into Wilson's California pop roots. It's not one his best offerings, although the lush harmonies evoke his Beach Boys glory days.

"We [tried] to recapture the feeling of Beach Boy harmonies in the 1960s," Wilson told the Wall Street Journal. "We overdubbed five times, which gave us 20 voices. That's a small choir."

No Pier Pressure is out on April 7 via Capitol Records.
