Brian Eno Announces Online Audio-Visual Listening Party for 'Lux'
The event will take place on Eno's website this Saturday (November 17). The album will be broadcast four times throughout the day, with the music accompanied by a gallery of images based on the theme "play of light" (which was apparently a working title for Lux). These photos will be submitted by fans listening at home and will be curated in real time by Eno and his team.
A press release offers this advice for interested participants: "While all photograph submissions on this theme are welcomed, Eno particularly encourages fans to take pictures of subjects as the light of your day changes, perhaps out of the window of the room where you are listening to the album. Photos will be moderated on submission."
If all goes well, the photographs will be stored in a permanent online gallery.
Check out the Facebook event for the so-called "Day of Light" here. The broadcast times, in EST, are as follows: 1:45 a.m. to 3 a.m., 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Eno's website will automatically display the local broadcast times depending on where you live.
These days, Eno seems especially interested in combining ambient sounds with unique visual accompaniment. He recently released a compositional iPad app that uses backgrounds, colours and shapes to create music.
