With the Raconteurs evidently still on hold, it's about time that we heard some new solo material from pop rock songwriter Brendan Benson. Sure enough, Benson just rolled out a newly expanded version of his 2002 LP Lapalco.
The original album has been remastered and is available on vinyl for the first time through his online store. This comes with liner notes written by friend and frequent collaborator Jack White. There's also a digital version that comes with 16 extra tracks. These range for EP cuts to B-sides and demos.
"I had turned this beautiful old house into my recording studio," Benson recalled in a press release. "There was gear everywhere! I was right at home. The songs on Lapalco remind me of that house and that time."

This Lapalco reissue isn't all that we'll be hearing from Benson in the near future. He's currently self-producing a new solo album at Welcome to 1979 studio in Nashville, TN. Contributors to the recordings include Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer (Big Star, the Posies), Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet) and drummer Brad Pemberton (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals).
When the new album drops, it will be the official follow-up to 2009's My Old Familiar Friend.
