Hailing from Ottawa, energetic four-piece Bonnie Doon play what could be classified as "spaghetti surf," blending spiky hop-along melodies with a Sergio Leone-at-the-beach vibe. Their two bass, one guitar attack made for lots of fuzzy fun, and in places gave a nice creepy slink to their more cautionary songs of woe and been-done-wrong.

Drummer Keltie kept the low-end groove in line, as needed when songs about pizza sharks and hot dinosaurs are involved. And though the band obviously embrace kitsch, they definitely rise above the level of novelty, using it as a weapon and not a crutch.
