Blur to Record New Album?

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 7, 2013

While reunited Britpop vets Blur had previously hinted that there were no plans to record any new material beyond last year's "Under the Westway"/"The Puritan" single, the band seemingly revealed album plans at a concert in Hong Kong this week.

A show at Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo last night (May 6) had singer Damon Albarn noting that Blur have some time off next week due to some cancelled dates in Japan, and hinted that they may hit the studio.

"So we have a week in Hong Kong, and we thought it would be a good time to try and record another record," Albarn told the ecstatic crowd.

You can watch the announcement in the video down below.

That's about all the info that Albarn offered up, so it's unclear if he meant this could be another single, or the band's first proper LP since 2003's Think Tank.

That said, fans may want to take Albarn's words with a grain of salt until Blur make a proper announcement. Last year, when asked over Twitter whether the group would be recording a new LP, guitarist Graham Coxon simply stated, "No."

Thanks to NME for the tip.
