Blue Hawaii

"Strawberries & White Light"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 25, 2014

Blue Hawaii's Untogether LP is getting another boost via a sweet and sublime stream of the ambient pop group's formerly Japan-only album track "Strawberries & White Light."

A simple electronic beat and the stirring sounds of a synthesized glass harmonica drive the tune, while vocalist Raphaelle Standell-Preston delivers a few delightfully drowsy whispers ("I'm tired, he's tired / we're happy and inspired"). The track unravels a few extra unearthly keyboard tones, wind sounds and dub-style panning of Standell-Preston's echoing vocals back and forth between the speakers.
