Seattle thrash unit Black Breath's 2014 got off to a rough start when drummer Jamie Byrum was hospitalized after being struck by a car. On top of the percussionist having healed up, 2015 promises to be much better for the band as they've revealed plans to put out a new full-length.
A press release delivered today (October 29) notes that the act are heading out to Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou's GodCity Studios in Salem, MA, at the end of November to track the as-yet-untitled effort. The quintet had also worked with the famed metal/hardcore producer for 2010's Heavy Breathing and their most recent LP, 2011's Sentenced to Life.
While details surrounding the album are still developing, Southern Lord expects the album to land sometime early next year, with the collection further expanding on Black Breath's melding of d-beat-driven hardcore and Swedish death metal along the lines of Entombed.
In related news, Black Breath guitarist Mark Palm's more melodic, '90s alt-rock inspired Supercrush project recently revealed plans to issue another vinyl single. Their "I Don't Want to Be Sad Anymore"/"How Does It Feel (to Look Like You)?" 7-inch lands sometime in the next few months through Canada's Debt Offensive records, with a U.S. edition landing via Painter Man.
Tour dates:
12/14 Brooklyn, NY - Saint Vitus
