Billy Corgan Takes Job as Creative Director of Wrestling Company, Issues Mission Statement to Prove Dude Is Serious

Like a lot of people, Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan grew up watching wrestling. But unlike some, Corgan hasn't lost any of his enthusiasm for the sport since reaching adulthood. In fact, the alt-rock star recently took job as the creative director of the wrestling promotional company Resistance Pro.

To prove he means business, Corgan has now posted a mission statement on Resistance Pro's website, explaining his role as creative director. He revealed that he will "write the angles and set the tone for the future vision of the company."

According to Corgan, the company has two goals: to help "our young talent to get hired and to succeed at the highest levels in the business" and "to encourage a safer in-ring product that balances incredible athleticism with storytelling." In assisting up-and-comers to achieve the goals, he hopes "to help others succeed like I was given the opportunity to in music."

Unfortunately, anyone hoping to see Corgan throw down in the wrestling ring will be disappointed. He wrote, "My plan is to stay out of the ring and spend my energy working behind the scenes to make us a company to watch in the coming years."

Go here to read the entire mission statement.

We'll have to see whether this new job sets him back in his plans to complete 44 songs for the in-process album Teargarden by Kaleidyscope.
