Bend Sinister

'Small Fame' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 3, 2012

Vancouver's Bend Sinister released their last album, Stories of Brothers, Tales of Lovers, way back in 2008. Now, four years and a couple of EPs later, the prog pop outfit are ready to drop the follow-up. Small Fame is scheduled to arrive July 10 through File Under: Music, and you can stream the entire thing at Exclaim.ca.

Like this year's On My Mind EP, the full-length was produced by Shawn Cole (Yukon Blonde, You Say Party) at Mushroom and Fader Master studios in Vancouver. The 12-song collection includes a couple of the strongest tracks from that prior short-form release, along with a number of previously unheard songs.

According to a press release, these tunes find the band "[carrying] out their traditional brand of classic rock influenced song writing while maintaining a uniquely modern twist throughout the entire album." Influences apparently include far-flung acts like the Beach Boys, Iron Maiden and Hall and Oates.

Bend Sinister will celebrate the release of Small Fame with a July 19 show at Venue in Vancouver. They also have upcoming shows at Cactus Jack's in Kamloops, BC, on July 20 and Vancouver's Khatsalano Festival the day after that.

For now, listen to all of Small Fame below.
