Ben Caplan Schedules Canadian Winter Tour, Cover Pogues' "Fairytale of New York"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 5, 2012

We can always count on East Coast folk growler Ben Caplan to embark on a steady string of new tours, and next year looks to be no exception. The songwriter has scheduled a number of dates for 2013, in addition to appearing on a new single from Norwegian folk group Katzenjammer.

The tour schedule finds Caplan spending a month on the road in the eastern half of Canada. Between early February and early March, he will perform in the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. After that, he'll head Down Under for a few Australian gigs. See the schedule below.

Scroll past that to hear Katzenjammer's Caplan-assisted cover of the Pogues' Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York," which originally featured Kirsty MacColl. It preserves the duet structure of the original, although it switches up the parts a bit and replaces the Celtic arrangement with soothing strings. You can also watch a video for the cover at the bottom of the page.
