Beck to Premiere New Song Monday

Ever-changing popsmith Beck is teasing the arrival of some new material via a new piece of art posted over social media.

This afternoon, Beck's Twitter and Facebook profiles uploaded an animated gif of the songwriter's face covered in colorful, cartoon-style squiggles. The deadpan photo has also been graced with an illustrated bleeding eyeball. This all comes with the tag, "Dreams."

It's unclear if Beck is teasing a previously promised "uptempo" follow-up to 2014's Grammy-winning Morning Phase LP. The Future Heart blog, however, recently reported that a new single called "Dreams" is on the way.

News of a new Beck single first arrived last week via Pittsburgh station Radio 104.5's DJ Johnny, who tweeted that his station would be premiering an "#InfectiousJam." Yesterday (June 10), competing radio station WYEP's Kyle Smith tweeted that he would debut a new tune from Beck on Monday (June 15) at noon, local time.

This was followed by a since-deleted tweet from Rolling Stone's Will Hermes, who wrote of "Dreams": "Just heard new Beck song. No Morning Phase retread here; more like Tame Impala playing pétanque with fun. on ayahuasca."

So far, Beck has just provided us with the animated gif. Unless it leaks ahead of time, we'll have to wait a few more days for the purported new Beck tune. Sweet dreams until Monday, everybody.

UPDATE: You can now hear a snippet of "Dreams" below. In an interview with Alt 98.7, Beck confirmed the track arrives Sunday night at midnight EDT, and it is a taste of an upcoming LP. Of the new as-yet-untitled album, he said the material was "pretty diverse" and a "group of songs that fit together." Unfortunately, there is no word on when the album may arrive.
