Beck Reportedly Working with Dwight Yoakam

While it hasn't meant an onslaught of solo albums, Beck's recent tenure as a producer has allowed for some top-notch collaborations with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Thurston Moore and Stephen Malkmus, among others. Now, the artist has likely made his most out-there partnership yet by entering the studio with chart-topping country star Dwight Yoakam.

According to an LA Times article [via TwentyFourBit], Yoakam has returned to Warner Bros. Records after a decade-long absence and is currently working with My Morning Jacket/the Strokes producer Joe Chiccarelli on a new album. "Yoakam also has been recording some tracks with Beck," the story adds.

As if helping to transform a notoriously cheesy country icon wasn't enough, Beck also has a limited printing press project on the horizon. In a recent interview with Spin, Malkmus said Beck was talking about the project when recording the Pavement frontman's upcoming Mirror Traffic album with the Jicks.

"Beck also said he was trying to start a private press of books and that I should get involved," Malkmus said. "He asked if I wanted to do something. But I don't know what the status of that yet because, you know, I haven't contributed to it yet. But he's planning a '60s-style private press. Limited editions books of writings, drawings, poetry."

While details on both projects are yet to be seen, the fact that Beck will continue to do whatever he wants remains more clear than ever.
