Bassnectar Taps Lupe Fiasco, Zion I for New Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 5, 2012

California electro favourite Bassnectar has been in the game for more than a decade and he's showing no signs of slowing down. The beatsmith also known as Lorin Ashton has announced plans to spend the next few months touring in support of another new album.

The album is called Vava Voom and will be released via Ashton's own Amorphous Music label. According to a press release, the record "showcases Ashton's wide array of influences." This includes a tribute to pop punks Pennywise (which he told the Salt Lake Tribute takes the form of a remix), a hip-hop track with Lupe Fiasco, and even a song that samples Ashton's death metal band from when he was 16. There's also "beautiful atmospheric tracks" with "ethereal vocals."

The tracklist is below, and electro smasher "Ugly," featuring Zion I's Amp Live, is streaming at the bottom of the page. Go to Bassnectar's official site to see his upcoming tour schedule, which includes plenty of U.S. gigs but no Canadian appearances.
