Between a devastating bus crash and lineup changes, it's been an intense couple of years for Georgian metal force Baroness. The Savannah band are moving forward, though, and have revealed that they're currently working in the recording studio.
Via Facebook, Baroness posted a rather triumphant looking picture of themselves tracking material at Cassadaga, NY's Tarbox Road Studios. Surprisingly, the band also confirmed that they are working with none other than indie sound guru Dave Fridmann, who's previously teamed up with the likes of the Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Weezer and Sleater-Kinney.
It's unclear at present what exactly Baroness are recording. Though they issued their Live at the Maida Vale BBC session back in 2013, they have yet to issue a follow-up to 2012's Yellow & Green. If fans are lucky, however, this is the first sign of a new Baroness album.
As previously reported, Baroness and their crew were involved in a serious bus accident outside of Bath, England, in 2012. Nine people were injured in the accident, in which the band's tour bus fell 30 feet off a viaduct. Among the injuries, guitarist/vocalist John Baizley broke his left arm and left leg, while drummer Allen Blickle and bassist Matt Maggioni each suffered fractured vertebrae. The latter two musicians would leave the band in 2013.
Following an intense recovery period, Baizley and guitarist Pete Adams brought bassist Nick Jost and drummer Sebastian Thomson.
