Baroness

"Chlorine & Wine" (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 24, 2015

If ever you're invited over to Baroness' place for dinner, may we suggest turning down any conceptual highballs the metal bruisers pass your way? Reason being, it seems they've developed a taste for "Chlorine & Wine." Though a glass of that seem unappetizing, their song of the same name is a potent preview from the group's forthcoming Purple LP.

Currently streaming in a new music video, the song finds John Baizley and the boys offering up an atmospheric wash of sound and lightly strummed textures in the intro, before beefing up the tune with a few grizzlier growls and crunched chord work. That said, it's still a brighter look at Baroness, with the song also featuring pleasant piano hooks, a jubilant, NWOBHM-geared twin guitar solo, and a rallying cry of "Please, don't let me down."

The video itself offers up a handful of violet-hued visuals and in-studio footage. You can get a waft of "Chlorine & Wine" down below.

As previously reported, Purple drops December 18 through Baroness's own Abraxan Hymns imprint. They've also announced a short run of US dates. The show info can likewise be found below.
