Balacade

"Strangers"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 23, 2015

Vancouver-based musician Andrew Reynolds makes music under the name Balacade, and Exclaim! has got your first listen to his brand new single "Strangers."

Inspired by his Pacific Northwest surroundings and influences like Grandaddy, Sparklehorse, Neil Young and Elliott Smith, it's no surprise that his songwriting shines. Eschewing glossy production in favour of lo-fi, jangly indie rock vibes, "Strangers" starts of softly and slowly, but continuously builds into a sweet-sounding summertime jam.

Even more impressively, all of the instrumentation heard on the tune comes courtesy of Reynolds alone.

"Strangers" will appear on the forthcoming full-length In Bloom, which is due out digitally on August 15. A cassette release is expected to follow in September. For now, though, give "Strangers" a spin in the player below.
