Badly Drawn Boy Issues Apology for Onstage Meltdown

Last week, Badly Drawn Boy (aka Damon Gough) melted down on stage in L.A., cussing out the crowd and threatening retirement. During the profanity-laced tirade, Gough insulted those gathered at the venue, telling one concertgoer, "Shut up, you stupid bitch." Now, the singer has apologized for his behaviour.

In a statement posted on his official site, Gough wrote, "There is no one more upset about this situation than myself." Explaining that he had been frustrated with the poor sound, he continued, "As an artist, you only want to do the job to the best of your ability... when that is compromised, there is a tendency to get frustrated."

According to Gough, after he began having trouble with the sound, it was the hecklers who pushed him over the edge. While he still refused to apologize to the hecklers, he wrote, "I want to profusely apologize to those caught in the crossfire... especially a guy who had to leave with his young daughter and all of you who stuck by me to help turn things around."

He also gave a special apology to the L.A.'s Troubadour, saying, "Thank you for putting on my two shows in L.A. once more." (During the show, he promised, "If I'm playing in L.A., it won't be at the Troubadour.")
