Azari & III Call It Quits

Just one month ago, Toronto electronic act Azari & III put together a new compilation, but it looks as if this will be the last we hear from them, since they have announced that they are breaking up.

In a Facebook post, the band's Alphonse Alixander Lanza III announced the split, saying that the "art project" was just "a momentary blip in time." He didn't explain the exact reason for the breakup, but it doesn't seem that there is any bad blood; rather, the project has simply "run its course."

The statement is as follows:

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, the art project known as AZARI & III has done its work, run its course and is, for all intents and purposes, a momentary blip in time, now forever imprinted on the Universe. Our recent EP entitled "Extinction Event" was just that, an extinguishing of the flame and a bird into the fire of blissful, eternal oblivion. It was heaven, it was hell, and I wouldn't take it back if I could. Now comes the Aeon of the Phoenix, which rises from the flames impervious. Long live the new flesh.

As you can see, the statement hints at what could be a new project called Aeon of the Phoenix, or just some metaphorical words.

Azari & III formed in 2008 and featured namesakes Alixander III and Dinamo Azari, along with Starving Yet Full and Fritz Helder. They released just one proper album, 2011's self-titled LP.

Azari & III have one upcoming date in Manchester on December 14. There is no mention of any show cancellation.
