Attention Ska Lovers: Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Tons More Set for This Summer's Victoria Ska Fest

BY Kelly SemkiwPublished Jun 4, 2009

As most ska lovers know, the Victoria Ska Fest is an annual tradition, and that's not about to change anytime soon, at least certainly not this year. The Victoria, BC Ska Society recently announced the details of this year's tenth annual event, which this summer will come complete with eight scheduled shows and two music workshops over the course of four brass-sounding, skank-filled days.

From July 8 to July 11, the festival will feature the likes of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Voodoo Glow Skulls, the Slackers and Los Rastrillos, among others. As with previous years, most of the celebrations will be held outdoors alongside the usual festival add-ons like beer gardens, merchandise tents and food concessions. Also, about half the festival will be free, while separate ticked shows will range anywhere from $12 to $45.

The theme of this year's festival will be "Reunion and Unity," thus the program selections will reflect bands that have had a significant impact on the Victoria Ska Festival and the evolution of the Victoria, BC Ska Society.
