Political punk crew Anti-Flag will seethe over the state of the world once again, having announced that they're set to deliver another modern society-critiquing collection of tunes in May. Though a firm release date has not been revealed, the album is titled American Spring, and it's the band's first for new label home, Spinefarm Records.
A press release confirms that the quartet have left Side One Dummy, with whom they released 2009's The People or the Gun and 2012's The General Strike to join Spinefarm. Specifics on the recordings, from studio info to a tracklisting, have not been revealed, but the band are promising more punky, pointed, political material.
"There is no shortage of fodder for a new record of commentary on the social and political climate in 2015: Endless wars, the new Jim Crow and American injustice, corprotocracy, environmental coup d'état, the surveillance state, loss, grief and anxiety," the band noted in a statement. "We hope that these songs can grant us solace in a seemingly hopeless era.
They added, "It has been frustrating to see much punk rock music —and music in general— quiet in the face of so many atrocities that are taking place around the world. This record is not quiet. If you are disillusioned with the status quo, these songs are for you. The American Spring is now."
While the new album will arrive in May, Anti-Flag are currently out on the road celebrating their 2003 effort, The Terror State. The trip heads through Ontario and Quebec in February.
