Anti-Flag Reveal 20th Anniversary Tour, Play Toronto

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 13, 2013

Despite their initial mini-run in the late '80s, long-running political pop punks Anti-Flag's career fully kicked off in 1993, and the band are celebrating their 20th solid year of action with some anniversary shows. The group revealed a quick tour full of two-day stops in cities along the U.S. East Coast and also in Toronto.

As for the Canadian date, the band will hit Hogtown's Hard Luck club for a two-night stint on May 23 and 24. According to the band, each night will feature sets tailored around specific LPs, rather than a mish-mash of tunes. The first evening culls tracks from 1996's Die for the Government, 1999's A New Kind of Army, 2002's Mobilize, 2009's The People or the Gun, and last year's The General Strike.

Night two, meanwhile, will home in on tracks off 1998's Their System Doesn't Work For You, 2001's Underground Network, 2003's The Terror State, 2006's For Blood and Empire, and 2008's The Bright Lights of America.

The band note they will also perform their Amnesty International commemorative song "Toast to Freedom" at the shows. Recorded at Berlin's Hansa Studio in Berlin, the song is dedicated to the members of Pussy Riot and features guest performances from Billy Talent's Ian D'Sa, Donots and Bernd from Beatsteaks.

For the purposes of full disclosure, Exclaim! is sponsoring both Toronto stops.
