British songwriter Anna Calvi is releasing "Suddenly" as the new single from her album One Breath, and it comes backed with a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Fire."
Note that this is a cover of the outtake from Darkness on the Edge of Town, which subsequently emerged in live form and in the box set The Promise. It was famously covered by the Pointer Sisters, and is not to be confused with the Boss' oft-covered tune "I'm on Fire."
Calvi's version is intimate and ultra-minimal, consisting of reverb-tinged electric strumming, whispered vocals and some piano chords. It will be released on 7-inch on Christmas Eve (December 24); it's available to pre-order through Domino.
