Angela Desveaux

Breezing through NYC for less than 12 hours, Angela Desveaux and her band plugged into borrowed equipment and displayed why her debut album, Wandering Eyes, sounds so effortless. Covers of Gene McLellan, Paul McCartney and Snailhouse helped bolster a set that showcased Desveaux’s heartbreaker of a voice, blessed with a natural grace devoid of affectation. Full points also go to guitarist Mike Feuerstack, a fine foil for Desveaux’s comfortable yet understated stage presence; his dry wit, note-perfect low harmonies and guitar leads coloured songs that can just as easily stand naked.
