AM & Shawn Lee Gear Up for 'La Musique Numerique,' Plot "Sounds of Summer" North American Tour

Blue-eyed soul singer AM and multi-instrumentalist funk beatsmith Shawn Lee have joined forces again. But the duo are changing pace a bit from their critically lauded 2011 debut Celestial Electric with their new album La Musique Numerique, which is set to be released on May 7 via their new label Park the Van.

La Musique Numerique translates from French to roughly mean "digital music," and it sees their sound evolve from the easy, breezy retro pop-soul of their debut to a more grimy, synthetic feel, "drawing heavily on late 70's French library, '80s Italo Disco and Sleng Teng dancehall riddims," as the press release puts it.

The duo have already shared a few new tracks: the first single "Two Times" and their cosmic cover of Joe Jackson's 1982 hit "Steppin' Out." You can stream and/or download both below.

As they await, with hope, for their Pledge Music funding to succeed and for the album to hit stores, the duo have plotted a tour called "Sounds of Summer" that will take them from coast to coast across North America in June. Below you can see the currently confirmed schedule, which includes a Vancouver stop on June 16.
