Agnostic Front, Insted Members Prep Debut LP as the Alligators
Throughout Agnostic Front's lengthy career, the band has gone through some sonic changes, from the primitive blasts of their United Blood seven-inch and the crossover classic Cause for Alarm, to their street-punk inspired '90s albums to their more recent, metal-tinged offerings. Chances are slim that the New York act will return to those early sounds, but vocalist Roger Miret's new project, the Alligators, will try.

According to a press release, the band, made up of Miret and three members of late '80s West Coast hardcore act Insted, tout an old school hardcore sound on their upcoming debut LP, Time's Up, You're Dead. The set, which will drop March 27 through Bridge 9, is said to tip its hat to '80s greats like SSD, Antidote, Negative Approach, Poison Idea, and Scream, while also referencing Miret's past, alleging that the release could easily fit in between United Blood and Agnostic Front's Victim in Pain LP.

While hardcore purists may double-take East Coast scene vet Miret teaming up with the left coast guys from Insted (bassist Rich Labbate, drummer Steve Larson and guitarist Barret Burt), the singer believes the side-project is a perfect match.

"An odd fit you might think, but make no mistake: those guys are hard," Miret said in a statement. "Rich and I have been friends since the early 80's and periodically talked about doing music together, so this is a record I've been meaning to do for a long time coming."

A tracklisting has yet to be unveiled, but song premieres and show announcements are in the works.
