It's official: the Only Band Ever is back for good. During Alexisonfire's set at Toronto's Riot Fest last night (September 19), Canada's premier screamo team confirmed that they'll be sticking around after this recent batch of reunion dates.

The official word came from guitarist Wade MacNeil, who started off an on-stage speech last night with plenty of gratitude for the fans who kept "believing in this band when we couldn't even believe in this band."

He added: "Thank you for sticking with us. We promise to never leave you again. No more sentimental shit. Alexisonfire is officially back." As you'll see in the fan-shot video down below, the believers went bananas after MacNeil confirmed the group's return.

As previously reported, Alexisonfire regrouped earlier in this summer for a handful of festival appearances, which included Heavy Montreal, some UK dates, Edmonton's Sonic Boom event and last night's Riot Fest in Toronto. A stop had been planned at Calgary's X-Fest, but that show had been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

Alexisonfire had staged a cross-Canada farewell tour in 2012, which was later chronicled with the Live at Copps concert LP.

The quintet's immediate plans are as yet unknown.
