AC/DC's Phil Rudd Pleads Guilty to Charges

AC/DC are rocking the blues away, but things aren't quite that simple for former drummer Phil Rudd, who has now pleaded guilty to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession.

Rudd was supposed to go on trial tomorrow (April 21) at New Zealand's Tauranga District Court, but he changed his plea to guilty before it ever began [via AAP]. He was released on bail and will be sentenced on June 26. His lawyer Craig Tuck said the musician will be seeking a discharge without conviction.

All this stems from an incident on September 26, 2014, when Rudd allegedly threatened to kill a contractor he had previously employed. He's also said to have threatened the man's 10-year-old daughter. When the police raided Rudd's house on November 6, they found 0.71g of methamphetamine and 130g of marijuana.

The drummer was initially also accused of attempting to procure murder, but that charge was dropped. Back in December, Rudd ended up back in handcuffs after a public confrontation with a former security guard.

Meanwhile, AC/DC are still promoting their album Rock or Bust — which Rudd played on — and they've got some Canadian shows coming up later this year.
