The Cave Singers Sign to Jagjaguwar for Upcoming Third Album
Seattle alt-folksters the Cave Singers have traded in one big-name indie label for another. The three-piece, who released their first two albums via Matador, have now jumped ship to Jagjaguwar, who will release the group's still-untitled third album sometime in early 2011.

In a press release, Jagjaguwar wrote, "We've been major fans of the band's fresh, transcendent folk since their debut. And we're doubly excited about the trio's... plans to enter the studio this summer with Seattle producer Randall Dunn."

In teaming up with Dunn, who has previously worked with the likes of Sunn 0))), Boris and Black Mountain, the band "hopes to give its sound some added weight and a soaring ferocity more akin to the Cave Singers' incredible live show."

"Everything's more electrified on this record, and just louder," guitarist Derek Fudesco said in a recent interview with Seattle Weekly. "We wanted to work with someone who we felt could have a bit thicker production, and working with someone who does a lot of heavier records, [we thought] even our quieter songs would probably come off more like we play 'em live."

The Cave Singers will be unveiling some of their new material later this year with U.S. festival dates in August and a tour of China in September.

Tour dates:

8/6 Happy Valley, OR - Pickathon Festival
8/7 Happy Valley, OR - Pickathon Festival
8/8 Happy Valley, OR - Pickathon Festival
8/21 Redmond, WA - Marymoor Park (No Depression Festival)
