Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba Pushes Demos' Release to August

Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba Pushes <i>Demos</i>' Release to August
Matt Skiba, guitarist/vocalist for goth punkers Alkaline Trio, has been promising Demos, his debut solo full-length, to fans for a while. The good news is a release date has been confirmed by his record label; the bad news is it's not out until August.

Long-running indie Asian Man Records has announced the album's new release date will be August 10. The record - originally slated to be 15 songs that were recorded over the span of ten months - once had a release date of February 16, but that got pushed aside once Alkaline Trio's Addiction was given a February 23 release date.

Skiba told Spinner back in February that Demos is "an album of stuff I did on GarageBand on my laptop, so it's very lo-fi and stripped-down. Mike Park, who runs Asian Man out of his parents' garage and likes being a small label, he's one of my best friends. I want Demos to be kind of a small record. I want it to come out kind of quietly and be something that people will kind of have to seek out."

Skiba, who put out a split EP with Kevin Seconds in 2002, also talked to Spinner about a second solo album, which would perhaps contain some overlap from Demos and be more of a proper debut solo effort, whereas Demos would be a bit more of a raw affair. There is no further word on the progress of this album, which is being recorded with Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails, Skrew, Methods of Mayhem).

As for Alkaline Trio, they'll be back out on the road supporting Addiction next month; head here for a list of tour dates.
