Toronto, ON vet 4th Pyramid is back in the mix with his latest EP, The Sky Belongs To The Stars, which sees the long-time MC/producer demonstrating growth both musically and personally on this solid offering. In addition to his production, 4th links with Rich Kidd on opener "Stay Up High," which has him spitting bars over the grimy analog stutter the Kidd serves up. "Friday Nights," produced by Grandtheft, is a straight-up party record that wouldn't sound out of place on a little record (ahem…classic) I dusted off recently entitled Uptown Saturday Night. On "A Little Out of Line," featuring crooner Ben Stevenson, 4th shows versatility on this stark, melancholy slow-burn of a track, which Stevenson handles the bulk of until he hands it off to 4th near the end, who closes it out with a few crisp rhymes. For a hometown artist who launched his career out in the Rotten Apple with Def Jux to all the in-between spent diligently grinding, all the way to this latest release, which simultaneously shows growth and promise, it's great to have another fine artist to call our very own. Salute.
