Tom Green to Star in Low-Budget Horror Movie

Canadian comedy icon Tom Green has done a lot since his cable-access rise to fame, from MTV superstardom to grinding out content for streaming video. Currently working as a stand-up comic, he's set to make another first by starring in his first horror film.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, Green will star in a new micro-budget horror film called Bethany. The film co-stars Stefanie Estes, Zack Ward and Shannen Doherty (a.k.a. 90210's Brenda Walsh), and will be directed by James Cullen Bressack.

The 23-year-old Bressack told THR that he first met Green in an alley behind The Asylum, the studio responsible for Sharknado. At the time, Bressack had been working on a horror flick called Blood Lake, but eagerly talked Green up about the new project.

"I was really inspired by his enthusiasm," Green told the magazine. "I've obviously done a lot of outrageous characters and ridiculous things in my TV show, and this is a more serious role."

Bethany follows a woman named Claire (Estes) who relives tragic memories after moving back to her childhood home with her husband (Ward). Tom Green plays a psychiatrist who intends to help the couple.

Bethany is currently in post-production.
