Toronto-based comic Sara Hennessey is introduced in the album's opening moments as "your favourite person in the world," and there's definitely some validity in that statement, thanks to her rampant enthusiasm and infectious giggle, not to mention endearing observational and situational humour. Loosely built around haphazard attempts at entering adulthood, Trouble In Saradise finds Hennessey taking the audience into her thought process for a seemingly unfiltered look at the universal occurrence of growing up, but with an almost contradictory, mischievous glee.
Hennessey seamlessly weaves her own, off-the-cuff commentary into her act, which further endears; from her affinity for bearded men to meeting her boyfriend's mom for the first time, Hennessey says what we're all thinking, but packaged in a way that's over-the-top and engaging, with plenty of wordless vocalisms to amp up the energy. Even when stretching out the bits, as on middle-set highlight "Camp" or seven-minute closer "Y'all Smoke Pot," her vibrancy never bores and remains magnetic and captivating without the visual aspect of an in-person or video performance. Hennessey keeps things fun and snappy due to her unfettered demeanour.
